Lord Kaname’s Return

So much had changed. The one person he loved in all this world had given him her heart which beat slowly in his chest. “Yuki” he thought. 1000 years had passed and with it his memories of what had happened. He missed her and loved her still. But he was human now. As Kaname was in deep thought in the woods and the snow fell lightly against the darkness of the night. He knew something was missing, but there was no way he would ever get his memories back and this made him sad. With a sudden jolt he was brought back to the real world as something ran right into him. He looked to see a small child, her hair was pure white and she was covered in blood.

As their eyes met her eyes grew wide with terror and she pushed herself away from him and took off running in the thick snow. There was no time to call out after her, she was a quick little thing so he did his best to keep up with her. His mind was racing “Why was there a small child in the woods all alone?” As he ran, he noticed that all of the sudden the little figure disappeared out of sight. There was a large log off to the side and from the looks of it, it appeared to be hollow. He very quietly came around and got on his hands and knees. The little figure was huddled in the back of the hollowed-out log and looked in quite the state of terror.

“I am not going to hurt you little one” He said

Upon hearing his voice, she hid her head. He gave a slight smile. He was not going to leave her out here all alone. So, he decided that he was going to see if you could get her to come out.

“Well, I guess I am going to have to sit here and wait for you to come out, but you know it is getting quite cold.”

He sat in silence which was not something that bothered him in the slightest. In some small way he found it peaceful. He watched as she stayed hidden in the darkness and was trying to keep out of reach. It broke his heart to see such a child so scared. As he sat there, he gently spoke to him, not wanting to make any sudden movement for he did not want to spook her any further. As the midnight approached, the moon was at its highest peak and a small shimmer of pale moonlight cast on the hollowed-out log. He could now see the little girl and on her sleeve, she bore a tag with the number 17 written on it.

“17” he murmured. As he did so the little girl’s head popped up and her amber eyes grew large with fright.

“It’s alright” He said as gently as possible.

“Do you have a name?” He smiled. She just stared at him. Then shook her head no. He frowned.

“That will never do” Looking at her closely “lets give you a name, shall we?”

As he looked at her, he saw the moonlight shine over her pure white hair. He smiled and said “How about Zuki?” For the first time he saw her eyes brighten. She immediately looked up at him and he could see the excitement in her face. He slowly moved out his hand towards her and said “Why don’t you come with me?” He could tell that she was hesitant but he made no further movement. He waited for her to feel comfortable enough to come to him.

After a while later as soon as he was feeling like this may never work a small hand reached out for him. As soon as she touched him a wave of emotions and memories came flooding back to him. He could remember everything that he had lost and that was not all. As clouds passed over the moon and sweet pale light disappeared. Kaname’s eyes glowed red…..
